A guaranteed lottery pick in Thursday’s Draft, we had the chance to check out Dion Waiters at Impact Basketball in Las Vegas last month. A well known commodity since the time he debuted as a freshman playing prep school ball for South Kent (CT), the Philly native has always had the natural talent to get just about any shot that he wanted on the floor. The questions always centered around what position he would ultimately play and how hard he was willing to work. Questions about his position were answered at Syracuse and those about his desire were answered after watching him for a week in Las Vegas under the tutelage of Joe Abunassar.
With a group of 10 potential NBA Draftees out there, there wasn’t a better shot creator than Waiters. He showed off outstanding footwork, shot the ball effortlessly from the NBA 3 point line, and was very difficult to stop in the pick and roll. Easy said, he was the best player that we saw at Impact and showed why he’s going to be a lottery pick tomorrow.
Dion Waiters was selected with the 4th pick of the NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
