New Jersey’s freshman class is one that people have been talking about for a while now. Everyone has been so intrigued by 6’11 Rodney Miller, a shot-blocking machine. If you like guards, you have 6’2 Temple Gibbs, younger brother of current overseas pro Ashton Gibbs. Oh and if flashy is what you like, combo guard NyRhique Smith has a game that reminds many of Sacramento Kings star Tyreke Evans. However, the best of the bunch right now is 6’5 shooting guard Tyus Battle.
Already playing a significant role for Gill St. Bernard’s, Battle is an electric scorer who can put points on the board in a hurry. Just as impressive as is refined skill set is the way that he lets the game come to him. Battle’s efficient style of play allows him to score quickly once he catches the rock, but the freshman also has the ability to create his own shot off of the dribble with the best of them. His pull-up jumper rivals that of anyone in the country, as he rises up above defenders and converts with ease from mid-range. As a whole, Tyus may be the most unselfish pure scorer in the class of 2016.
Battle already owns offers from Indiana, Villanova, UCONN, SMU, Cincinnati, Rhode Island, Miami, Syracuse, Seton Hall, and Rutgers. Just about everyone else in the country is evaluating Battle, who will be running on the Nike EYBL circuit with Team Final.
