Garfield Heights has established itself as one of the basketball factories of the state of Ohio, pumping out a D-1 player every single year dating back to 2007. Head coach Sonny Johnson has done an outstanding job of developing young talent. Guys like Carl Jones, Robert Wilson, and Daitwan Eppinger helped build a brand of basketball at the east side suburb that will not stop growing, and freshman Willie Jackson appears to be next in line.
Standing 6’5, Jackson already has great size for a wing at the college level. He is an incredibly strong slasher (especially going right), is a monster in transition, and can knock down open three pointers. Additionally, Willie has exhibited the potential to be an outstanding defender on the ball. There’s still plenty of room for development in his ability to create off the bounce and mid-range game, but the explosive athlete owns all of the physical tools that you’d hope for out of a potential high-major wing.
Still an infant in the recruitment process, Willie has yet to receive his first D-1 offer yet. However, he has interest from Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Dayton, Xavier, Depaul, and Michigan, and will be closely evaluated on the AAU circuit.
