First Look: Malachi Richardson

With Karl Towns moving out of the class of 2015, the door has been opened for top sophomore in the state of New Jersey. After transferring from Trenton Catholic to Roselle Catholic, Malachi Richardson appears destined to take over the top spot as the king of 2015 in New Jersey.

Getting our first glimpse of him at the Good Samaritan Flyin’ To The Hoop, we quickly saw what all of the hype was about. He’s a lights out shooter with range that extends beyond the NBA three point line, can shoot off of the move or from a standstill, and has enough IQ to know when to shoot the ball. Malachi’s handle is solid for a two-guard, controlling the ball well and having enough creativity to create enough space to get his jumper off. We didn’t see Malachi finish at the rim much and while he has all of the tools (6’6 with good length) to be a nice defender, didn’t necessarily exert the most effort on that end of the court.

Holding offers from Indiana, Kansas, Cincinnati, Maryland, and an abundance of others, expect Richardson to be one of the hotter wing players in the class of 2015 once he hits the AAU circuit with Team Final.
