Huntington Prep opened their season against Evelyn Mack Basketball Academy today at Wyoming East high school in West Virginia. Led by Andrew Wiggins, Huntington took control of the game early and were never seriously threatened by Evelyn Mack. Tennessee recruit Trayvon Landry controlled the tempo of the game and got Baylor commit Dominic Woodson involved early.
Sophomore Montaque Gill-Caesar brought consistency to the Huntington Prep attack, knocking down shots from beyond the three point line and finishing through contact in the paint. Xavier Rathan Mayes added another dimension to Huntington’s offensive onslaught. An underrated passer, Xavier showed his outstanding vision throughout the game.
Andrew Wiggins got to the rim with ease today, taking advantage of Evelyn Mack’s undersized team. Wiggins scored over, through, and around defenders. The nation’s top senior looks more comfortable on the perimeter so far this season, but today the to the lanes to the basket were too easy to exploit. When all was said and done, Huntington won their season opener 73-51.
