At 6’10 and 230 pounds, it’s rare that you see guys who aren’t even old enough to drive with a body similar to that of an NBA big man. Daniel Giddens has that, along with a mean streak that has made him one of the elite big men in the class of 2015.
Running on the AAU circuit with the Worldwide Renegades, Giddens plays along side fellow ESPN Terrific 25 member Jaylen Brown (who is also his HS teammate at Wheeler) and Terrence Philips (Brandon Jennings’ little brother) to make up one of the more dynamic “Big Three’s” of the ’15 class. While the others bring the flash, Giddens brings the tenacity. He is outstanding finishing with either hand, both at the rim and in the form of a jump hook. The deceptive athlete also does a great job rebounding the ball out of his area and has established himself as a formidable defensive presence in the paint. Of course there is plenty of room for improvement for Giddens in terms of his hands and face-up game, but all of the tools are there for him to wind up being one of the better bigs in the class.
